The Philadelphia Eagles are 11-1, and the Jalen Hurts MVP talk is hotting up. Part of the key to being named NFL MVP is to be playing at your top level at the business end of the season when the votes are cast – recency bias – and that is something that Hurts is all over right now.
His performance in the Eagles’ 35-10 dismantling of the Tennessee Titans will reinforce any voter thinking of naming Hurts MVP, and it will have turned the heads of those thinking of voting for other candidates such as Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.

Jalen Hurts MVP
Hurts is still busy breaking records. His latest effort was to become the first player in the history of the Eagles to put up three touchdowns passing, one touchdown rushing, and to toss for 350 yards in the same game.
Hurts is just playing at another level right now. He can ebb and flow with the game and pick which way he wants to beat a team. Last week he set the single-game rushing record for an Eagles quarterback. This week, he used his arm to let A.J. Brown and his other wide receivers take over the game.
Hurts is beginning to share the love in the passing game too. While Brown had the most catches for the most yards, he could also pull the second-best game of the year out of DeVonta Smith. Smith had 102 yards and a touchdown on five catches, and it was noticeable that Hurts was progressing through his reads to find whichever of his best playmakers was most open as he dropped back.
The best thing you can say about a player in this situation is that the game is happening in slow motion. That is where Hurts is at right now. He can see the pass rush developing – though his offensive line was immense on Sunday – and by predicting the pressure, he can move into space where he can make his best throws.
No Eagles has ever won the MVP. This is pretty stunning when you consider the stars – and the success – that Philadelphia has had through the years. If Hurts keeps playing at this current level – and if the Eagles keep winning and finish with a record in the 15-2, 16-1 range – then how can Hurts be denied the trophy?
The New York Giants are up next. It is time for Hurts to fly once again and pick up a vital division win.
Always remember folks to bleed Eagles’ green, and Fly Hurts Fly!
